Happy Second Anniversary to A Cozy Capsule! When I first started ACC I needed help getting dressed. I had worked from home for two years and slipped into a habit of not getting ready. While wearing yoga pants and t-shirts was lovely for a little while, they eventually left me feeling kind of blah. But the clothes in my closet no longer suited me.
I worked in a downtown office environment for over 10 years prior to moving to our small town. The suits and fabrics were too stiff and corporate. The yoga pants and t-shirts were too sloppy and unstructured. I didn’t want to buy a whole new wardrobe but I did want some fun and brightness.
I looked for inspiration, but came up short. So I started with what I had in my closet, bought a few new colorful pieces, and decided to put together a 30-item capsule wardrobe for March, April and May. Here are a few of the looks from Spring 2019:

I may take my photos with a tripod in front of a brick wall now instead of office selfies, and I may do a monthly capsule instead of a quarterly capsule, but many of my clothes have stayed the same! In fact five of the items shown in the photos above are in this March’s capsule! I’ve learned a lot over the last two years and hope to continue growing and learning. Here are just a few of the highlights:
I Love Color!
Whether it’s a brighter lipstick or colorful dress, I feel best surrounded by colors inspired by the season.
I Love Dresses!
Not only are they easy–one piece and boom, outfit–they are pretty. It’s such a great, simple way to look pulled together with minimal effort.
I Love Capsules!
I still can’t believe I’ve been at this for two years! I also can’t believe how quickly I get tired of my clothes! While I do hold onto items for years, I get bored of wearing the same thing over and over again. Working with what I have and adding in a few new items at a time makes my “old” clothes feel fresh and helps keep my shopping more intentional. Putting together a new capsule wardrobe feels like a breath of fresh air at the start of each month.
And so! Let’s get into this month’s capsule!
I wanted to give a nod to my roots and decided to go with green for this March’s capsule. It feels fresh and like a harbinger of spring. It also was one of the colors that kicked off ACC. I’ve been working on some house projects and black, white and green have been the only colors holding my attention. I brought in a new camel sweater blazer that I got on deep discount at Talbots. March’s 20-item capsule was put together as follows:
Toppers
Denim Jacket
Camel Sweater Blazer
Green Cardigan
Skirts & Dresses
Green Polka Dot Dress
Black & White Gingham Dress
White Dress
Black Maxi Skirt
Black & White Polka Dot Skirt
Tops
Green Tunic
Black & White Polka Dot Sweater
Camel V-Neck Sweater
Green & White Striped T-shirt
Black V-Neck Sleeveless Swing Shirt
Black & White Striped T-shirt
Pants
White Jeans
Denim Jeans
Black Joggers
Shoes
Black Sandals
White Chucks
Nude Sandals
I bought three new items this month: the camel sweater blazer (which unfortunately is no longer available), black joggers and the black and white sweater. I’ve linked each of them below along with the black and white gingham dress I get asked about every time I wear it. I’ve had it for almost two years and was so glad to see it was still available!

I bought a pair of the joggers per your recommendation and got to wear them once before my teen daughters stole them. It looks like I’ll have to buy more! They are so comfy! Great recommendation!
Yay! I’m so glad you and your daughters like them! I feel like that’s an even bigger win if teen daughters like them–they are a discerning audience!
